Three members of a family died last Friday after they consumed food suspected to contain poison.
The victims – a 35-year-old tricycle rider, his pregnant wife, Nkem, and a 10-year-old relative brother, were found dead in their one-room apartment at Swali, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after taking dinner.
Residents said they forced the door open only to find their bodies after which they reported the incident to the Azikoro Police Division.
A dead rat was also reportedly found in the room, fuelling speculations that the victims might have died of food poisoning.
Police have taken their bodies to the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, for autopsy.
