Notorious Eiye cult leader terrorising Somolu dies in fresh clash

An alleged serial killer, Ibrahim Oriyomi Balogun aka Jpron, was killed in a cult clash in Somolu, Lagos on Wednesday.

Ibrahim had been accused of carrying out several murders in and around Somolu/Bariga.

The alleged Eiye cult group leader was reportedly killed by a rival group in retaliation of the killing of one Solomon, said to the a member of Aiye cult. Ibrahim allegedly supervised the killing of Solomon.

He had also been arrested and arraigned for murder and cult related activities in November 2012, August 2016, March 2017, but always found his way back to the streets.

Ibrahim had once confessed to the police in 2016 that he joined the Eiye cult group in 2009 to avenge his friend’s death.

“The reason for my joining was to avenge the death of a close friend, Sunday Folorunsho, aka Small Biscuit. It was the Aiye cult members who killed him. So, the Eiye faction approached me and said I should join them.

“They said they would help me to fish out the people who killed my friend. I have killed three persons, among are Femi Wiper and Lekan Akon,” he said.

One other member identified as Yesuru, is said to be battling for his life due to wounds sustained during the clash.

Police say several suspects have been arrested in connection with the cult clash and peace has been restored in the area.
