Woman “gulps poison after having argument with husband” in Niger
A woman in Niger State allegedly gulped poison after having an argument with her husband.
Police say the husband alerted the state division after his wife became unconscious as a result of the poison.
According to the husband, Musa Kabiru, he had a quarrel with his wife, Halima, over water last week.
She allegedly gulped the liquid and was rushed to the hospital, where she died.
Musa is quoted as saying, “I had a misunderstanding with her. We were arguing over water to drink in the house.
“My wife took an offence and drank poison because of the misunderstanding between us,” he added.
Police spokesperson Bala Elkana said the command’s operatives responded to a distress call from Musa.
“The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention but she later died. The matter is still under investigation,” Elkana said.
