Tenant kills landlord for N2m, buries him in shallow grave in Niger
A 34-year-old man identified as Maaruf Sarki has landed in police custody for allegedly killing his landlord, Tasiu Shittu.
Sarki confessed to police in Niger state that he killed Shittu and buried him in a shallow grave in Kontagora Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming Sarki’s arrest, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammad Abubakar said Sarki also stole N1.7m and an unregistered Honda car from the deceased.
Abubakar further disclosed that Sarki disappeared after killing Shittu but was later apprehended by defectives.
Sarki confessed to the crime and added that he was hired by a business associate at the cost of N2 million.
He said Shittu died of poison administered by him.
He said, “I used local medicine to kill the man and buried him inside the house that I rented from him.
“I was hired to kill him by one of his business associates. I regret the action,” he said.
