Recently released prisoner arrested again for stealing phone in Lagos

Tunde Okunola had barely spent a week out of prison walls when he was rearrested by the police in Lagos last Wednesday.

The 26-year-old robbery suspect was arrested with an accomplice, identified as Segun Adigun, while trying to rob their victim, Gift Omini, at Marwa Roundabout, Lekki area of the state.

They allegedly dispossessed Gift of her phone at about 5a.m but her alarm alerted police stationed in the area.

Gift said that the suspects who were riding on a motorcycle, used a short axe to dispossess her of a mobile phone.

“My shout for help attracted the attention of RRS officers at the Roundabout and they chased and arrested them,” she said.

Okunola said he spent six months and two weeks in Ikoyi prison before he was released on Friday, October 5.

He claimed to be a trained barber and was only looking for funds to do his freedom in Lagos.

“I will never step into Lagos again,” he pleaded with the police.
