Police arrest 4 suspects in connection with Abule Egba inferno

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the fire that razed several cars and shops and houses in Abule Egba over a week ago.

Residents of the area were jolted out of bed when the fire broke out December 18 midnight. The fire was said to have been caused by vandals who damaged the NNPC pipeline to scoop fuel.

The leakage they left behind was said to have caught fire after it flowed to a nearby abattoir. Properties worth hundreds of millions were reportedly lost in the fire.

Lagos police say that the four arrested suspects have narrated their involvement in the inferno. Police, however, say the prime suspect was still on the run.

“They also mentioned one Prince Adedipo Dauda Ewenla as their ringleader,” police spokesperson Chike Oti is quoted by NAN as saying.

“Based on this, the Command extended an invitation to him at his last known address but found out that he had fled to Ogun State in order to evade arrest.

“He is hereby advised to come out of hiding and report himself to Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja or to the nearest police station in the state to defend the allegation against him,” Oti added.
