10-year-old boy, 5 others, rescued from collapsed building in Kano
Six persons were rescued by Kano state fire service team as they were trapped in a collapsed building on Wednesday evening at Gwammaja in Dala Local Government area.
Saidu Mohammed, the spokesman for the fire service, told NAN on Thursday that a 10-year old boy was among the six rescued victims.
He said, “We received a distress call from Kabiru Yusuf, who lives in the neighbourhood, at 8:14 pm that a building had collapsed, On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team and a vehicle to the scene at 8:30 pm.’’
Saidu gave the names of the victims is Zainab Malami 50; Mariam Malami, 16; Asmau Malami, 16; Salim Malami, 1; Mohammed Malami, 10; and Abba Malami.
He said investigations about the cause of the collapse was ongoing.
He added that heavy downpour of rain has been predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, and also advised those living in cracked and old houses to vacate or renovate the buildings.
