Armed robbers attack bank killing two police officers, security man on duty in Ekiti
Four persons have been confirmed died by the Police, during a bank robbery attack in Ijero-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti state.
Report says that the robbers had started their havoc on Monday evening when they first attacked the town police station killing two officers on duty before moving to a bank in an ambulance with a coffin loaded with deadly weapons.
The report also added that the armed robbers also killed a security guard at the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and a passerby during the time of the robbery. They went ahead to blow down the bank security doors, gained access into the bank and carted away an unknown amount of money.
An eyewitness said that the robbers had entered the city through Aramoko Ekiti road and announced their arrival with series of gunshots causing residents to flee for safety.
DSP Caleb Ikechuckwu, who is the Ekiti Police Spokesman confirmed the incident and said the robbers entered the town around 5:30 pm using dynamites in blowing up the bank security doors.
DSP Caleb also added that “There was, however, no casualty on the side of the bank but there was one or two on the side of the police,” adding that an investigation is ongoing about the robbery attack.
