Nigeria’s military has inaugurated a court-martial to prosecute 36 personnel accused of plotting to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu.
The tribunal, set up by the Defence Headquarters, was formally convened on Friday at the Scorpion Mess in Asokoro, Abuja.
The proceedings are being conducted behind closed doors under tight security, with journalists denied entry to the venue. Authorities also restricted the use of mobile phones as the accused were escorted into the facility.
The defendants were transported to the location in a bus belonging to the Army Headquarters Garrison.
