Third time! God of drugs “El Chapo” Guzman escapes again!

We’re sorry. This story’s not true. Read our apology here.
The most notorious drug kingpin in the world, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán, head of the Sinaloa Cartel; has escaped from the Altiplano maximum security prison.
It’s the third time El Chapo would successfully execute a prison break.
Mexico was about extraditing him to the United States where he faces drug trafficking related charges. That would no be happening any time soon.
“What does this say about Mexican corruption?” an unnamed undercover US agent asked ABC News.
“Disgusting,” he replied himself.

Here’s what Mexican officials told ABC News they knew about this daunting escape.
- 2:35 a.m. – Guzmán was taken in restraints by two prison guards on a routine cell transfer.
- 3:05 a.m. – Prison staff could not locate Guzmán or the two prison guards’s whereabouts. The prison was put on lockdown as personnel went looking for them.
- 4:15 a.m. – A prison van was found abandoned only a mile away from the prison. Mexican officials believe the two guards, who began working at the prison just months ago, were actually members of the Sinaloa Cartel working for Guzmán.
