The notorious kidnapper and armed robber that was freed from court premises by his gang members has reportedly been shot dead in Rivers state.
The suspect, Henry Chibueze a.k.a Vampire, was forcefully set free by gunmen who invaded the Imo State High Court on January 27.
Police say he was gunned down at about 1am this morning (Thursday) in Omu Awa Forest, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
His gang had reportedly engaged the Police Special Forces, led by the IGP intelligence Response Team, in a gun battle.
Five members of the gang – Obinna Ela, Arinze Abecheta, Chukwu Ikeazota, Samuel Ugochukwu and Clifford Aheana – were arrested with arms and ammunition, police say.
“They were responsible for so many kidnap and armed robbery attacks in Imo, Abia, Rivers, Delta and other States in the south/south and South-East where several innocent people were killed by the gang,” police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood said.
“They will be paraded and charged to court on completion of Investigation,” he added.
