RECKLESS! 8 burn to death after NSCDC officials shoot at bus in Enugu

At least seven passengers and a commercial bus driver have reportedly met their untimely deaths after operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps opened fire on them.

The NSCDC officials were said to have opened fire on the commercial bus conveying the deceased on Milikin Hill Road, Enugu.

The driver’s refusal to stop when asked to do so by the officials was said to have been the cause of his death and the other passengers.

The NSCDC men allegedly chased the bus in a Hilux van and opened fire on the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and crash into the valley. The vehicle reportedly burst into flames instantly.

According to a witness, the driver of the commercial bus had refused to give bribe to the NSCDC officials.

“The incident happened because the driver refused to give them a bribe when they stopped him. They went after him, shot at the vehicle and seven people lost their lives,” he said.

The passengers were said to be Ngwo traders, who had gone to the New Market to transact business and were returning home.
