OAU: Sex-for-mark student finally speaks, invited for questioning

Monica Osagie, the student at the centre of a sex-for-mark scandal rocking the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has denied shunning an invitation by the panel probing the case.

Osagie had, weeks ago, released her conversation with Professor Richard Akindele, in which he allegedly demanded five rounds of sex to upgrade her marks.

Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, who spoke as Osagie’s proxy, said the institution did not at any point invite her for questioning.

She said she was not formally invited by any means to appear before the panel.

Osagie has, however, been summoned to appear before the investigative panel probing the incident next Tuesday.

The letter, dated April 19, from the Office of the Secretary, Post-Graduate College, was titled; “Re: Investigative panel on alleged harassment of a female student: Detailed audio recording: Request for the presentation of Miss Osagie Monica Oselode”. It was duly signed by the OAU Deputy Registrar and Post-Graduate College Secretary, Mrs. A.O. Fadeyibi.
