“You are jobless” – woman blasts FG for probing Big Brother Naija

The Nigerian government said it would investigate MultiChoice for reportedly recording reality TV show Big Brother Naija in South Africa.

The show is 100 percent Nigerian in content, and it was designed for a Nigerian audience. Nigerians, many of whom call their country “the giant of Africa” were enraged to hear it was being recorded in “rival” South Africa.

Information and culture minister Lai Mohammed said concerned Nigerians bombarded his office with calls to complain about what they regard as an anomaly – of shooting outside the country a show meant for Nigerians.

”As a country of laws, only the outcome of the investigation will determine our next line of action,” he said.

But not everyone is impressed with the government’s response.

“The federal government is jobless,” blogger Olufunke Phillips told NewsroomNG after hearing of the development.

Phillips had, in reaction to Nigerians who condemned the reported shooting of the show in Saouth Africa, said she didn’t care where the show was recorded.

She said she was more interested in Nigerians fighting for important things like regular power supply, good roads and education.

Phillips said in a Facebook post:

“Lai Mohammed. Face your work. Face your work. Like you care about the interest of Nigerians. When last did the NTA commission any program worth watching? Uncle, face your work.”

“Is it BBNaija that blasted your pipelines that caused epileptic power supply? What’s their own with your misguided rant?,” she asked another post.

“This one said they should come and do BBNaija in Edo state,” she began in yet another post.

“Where in Edo state? Ekpoma, Ibillo abi Uzebba? You think Benin City is the length and breadth of Edo state? Where make dem come shoot am o bros?

“So that red sand will scatter all their shoes and all their equipment go loss for night.

“We don’t want,” she said.
