Troops Arrest Suspected Militia Member Over Attack On NIPSS
A suspected militia member has been arrested by troops over his alleged involvement with the recent attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, in Jos South Local Government Area.
The arrested individual was identified as Paul Kolsen and was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Farm Centre. Security Sources said he was undergoing treatment for a gunshot injury, which was sustained during the July 2 attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS)
According to Zagazola Makama, Kolsen was arrested after security gathered information on his whereabouts. His arrest came a few days after other individuals allegedly connected to the attack were taken into custody.
The NIPSS was attacked again on July 2. During the attack, troops exchanged gunfire with the suspected militia members, killing one of the attackers, while others reportedly escaped through nearby rocky areas.
After the operation, soldiers recovered a service rifle with the registration number CO-3175. Security officials said the weapon was traced to a soldier who was killed during an earlier attack on troops at the Federal College of Land Resources Technology on April 11
Kolsen remains in custody as investigations continue. Security officials said they are trying to find out how he was involved in the attack and are also searching for other people who may have been involved in the attack.
The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies(NIPSS) has been attacked up to three times between June 16 and July 2, which has led to the death of three security officials and one suspected militia member.
