Free Readers Association: Experts analyse, discuss important incidents in Nigeria that shaped 2018

Every year, events that define the political, economic, and social landscape occur in Nigeria.

2018 was no different. Many incidents instigated intense conversations, while many others were too shocking to be believed.

From the threat to Nigeria’s democracy in form of a siege at the National Assembly by the DSS, to a premature excitement on the birth of a national carrier, the past year was full of events that propelled narratives.

In a bid to reflect on the occurrences and their impact on the country’s polity, Neusroom gathered a group of economic, law, social, and entertainment analysts as the Free Readers Association to discuss incidents in 2018 and projections for the new year.

Tunji Andrews, an economic expert; Ireti Bakare-Yusuf, a social commentator and media expert; Jide Taiwo, an entertainment connoisseur; Ikemesit Effiong, a communications expert and social commentator; and Jimmy Wofai, a lawyer and social commentator, gave insightful analyses into cogent issues, expertly moderated by Henry Ekechukwu.
