Domestic Violence: Mother of two stabs husband to death over cheating allegation
One Damilola Ayeni, a housewife, has allegedly stabbed her husband, Olumide, to death over infidelity claims in Lagos.
Damilola was arrested by the police after she allegedly committed the crime at their residence on Saturday.
Reports say she had attacked her husband after he returned from an outing, with claims that she heard a female voice when she spoke with him over the phone.
Olumide was stabbed in the chest, and died at the Lagos Island General Hospital where he was rushed to.
The deceased’s father, Sunday Ayeni, said his son and Damilola had always quarreled.
“They had issues many times and my son reported her to me. I told them to go their separate ways, but people said I should not come between them,” he said.
Sunday said after Olamide closed from work on Friday evening, he attended a party and also called his wife from there. The incident happened immediately the deceased returned home.
Damilola, 23 and a mother of two, however, told the police that she stabbed her husband in self-defense.
Police say she has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.
State police commissioner, Imohimi Edgal advised that “couples should resolve their matrimonial disputes amicably without resorting to violence which may ultimately lead to the death of either of them.”
