BREAKING: UNILAG arrests Adeyeye again, with 22 others this time
Information reaching Newsroom has it that rusticated University of Lagos student Femi Adeyeye has been arrested.
A source told Newsroom 22 other people were arrested for “trying to engage” the school’s dean of students affairs over why the school “victimized” a blind student.
We gathered Adeyeye and some others had gone to UNILAG to “shut it down”.
Their protest followed the reported rustication of visually impaired student Lawrence Success. He was handed a two-semester suspension for criticizing the school management.
But activists who showed up at UNILAG today said they wanted to talk with the management. They apparently got something else in return.
“We didn’t even protest,” a student said.
“We only wanted to engage the dean but he didn’t come out. On our way out we got arrested. I was lucky to escape,” he said.
Adeyeye is currently serving a four-semester suspension for criticising the school senate. He challenged the case in court but a judge threw it out for “technical” reasons.
It’s not the first time the police will arrest him on obvious orders from UNILAG management who were not available for comments on this story.
