JAMB Sets 150 as Minimum Score for Universities, 100 for Polytechnics
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday July 8, has announced the minimum cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The decision, which was reached following its annual policy meeting in Abuja, fixed 150 as the minimum score for universities, while polytechnics and colleges of education will admit candidates with a minimum of 100. Colleges of nursing sciences will accept candidates with scores from 140 and above.
“The minimum admissible scores for admissions for the next academic session have been fixed at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences by the stakeholders,” the body wrote in it’s X account.
This year’s UTME was marred by a widespread technical glitch that affected thousands of candidates across the country, and caused massive failure. In response, JAMB conducted a resit examination for the affected candidates.
Meanwhile, the federal government has officially set 16 years as the minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
