Woman carrying concubine’s pregnancy dies during childbirth in Oyo

An infidelity case against a woman identified as Marian Folalu has come to a sad end after she died during childbirth.

Marian had filed for divorce from her husband of 20 years, Kayode, after claiming that she was pregnant for another man.

At the time, she had told the court that her fifth pregnancy, being the subject of litigation before the court, belonged to her concubine, Ololade.

She said Ololade had been sleeping with her since January of 2018, and was the rightful owner of the expected child.

Ololade had corroborated her claim that he was responsible for the pregnancy, despite Kayode’s insistence that the pregnancy was his.

The court had adjourned the case until September 20 when Marian was expected to have given birth so that DNA test could be conducted to determine the paternity of the child.

An Ibadan Customary Court which deliberated on the divorce case heard on Thursday (today) that Marian had died in May during child bearing.

According to NAN, the court’s President, Chief Ademola Odunade, who sympathized with the respondent, struck out the case.

Odunade advised Kayode to approach the appeal division of the customary court for a redress if he so desired.
