Why MTN is shutting its lounge at MMA2

Telecom giant MTN Nigeria has announced that it is temporarily shutting down its lounge at the Murtala Muhammed Airport 2 (MMA2) over COVID-19 scare.

MTN said the move becomes necessary after one of the travellers who used the lounge and also had contact with its staff on March 18 2020 tested positive for the virus.

The Airport lounge is a special facility that gives travellers a more comfortable seating environment to relax and refresh before their flight.

“All staff on duty have been placed in isolation at this time and our premises at the airport are closed for thorough disinfection,” a statement by MTN on Wednesday said.

“As guided by the authorities, we suggest that any customer or guest who used the facility on or after March 18th should immediately self-isolate for 14 days and contact the NCDC on 0800970000 (toll free) to receive guidance if they feel unwell.”

The telecom company said it has also taken additional precautionary measures in all its open stores across the country.
