‘Bring African Cup of Nations Home’ – MTN Urges Super Eagles

Super Eagles, AFCON

Nigeria’s leading telecommunication firm, MTN Nigeria, has urged the Super Eagles of Nigeria not only to defeat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in their semi-final encounter on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, but also to win the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the fourth time.

MTN Nigeria expressed this in a goodwill message to the team ahead of their crucial match at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake, Cote d’Ivoire.

“I am sure I speak for all Nigerians and fans of Nigerian football everywhere when I say we are actively rooting for you, and confident that you will not only emerge victorious over the South African team tomorrow, but you will also bring the AFCON cup back home again,” Karl Toriola, CEO of MTN Nigeria, said.

It’s been 11 years since the Super Eagles won AFCON. Their last trophy was in 2013, under the tutelage of the late coach Stephen Keshi, who guided the Eagles to their third Nations Cup victory without losing a game. The Eagles, who are yet to lose a game in the ongoing AFCON, are expected to replicate their 2013 performance and bring the cup home.

But the match with South Africa, having defeated powerful teams like Morocco and Cape Verde to reach the semi-finals, will be a thrilling encounter.

However, MTN Nigeria is impressed with the performance and resilience the Super Eagles have shown so far.

“We want the Eagles to know as they go out to play at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake tomorrow, that MTN is delighted with their performance so far, thrilled about the game we know they’ll play tomorrow, and confident that they will make all Nigerians proud,” Toriola said.
