We just witnessed a miracle!

Dolapo is graduating!

I just witnessed a miracle, and I’m not sure exactly how to behave.

Right now, I’m so deliriously happy and thankful to God and my faith has been restored in Nigerians and the human race.

Why? Earlier last year, I had come across the handle @medicool_dee on Twitter. She needed money to pay her fees so she could write her exams and move to final year.

I was going through something myself that time but I followed up the campaign and kept up with it. I shed one or two tears as she happily rejoiced when the target amount was reached.

I watched the video and felt a very warm feeling inside. She got to stay in school, because of the generosity of people who understood her passion and what she stood to lose.

However, the danger wasn’t over. This year, she had completed her exams, done excellently well and she even had a job once she graduated.

But she couldn’t actually graduate because she had school fees unpaid to the tune of about 60,000 pounds.

The first miracle? Her university was going to waive the rest if she came up with half of the money. So for the second time, Dolapo launched a GoFundMe campaign, hoping for some miracle to raise the money in just a few days.

I had no money to give, but I cheered on from the sidelines. Hoping and praying that the money was raised and that Dolapo would not lose everything after a 10 year journey to becoming a medical doctor.

Today, that miracle happened. In nine days, almost 600 people raised almost 30 thousand pounds for Dolapo!

On July 12, 2017, Dolapo would wear a wig and gown, she will be called onstage like her colleagues and she will be presented with her certificate.

I don’t even know her, but I couldn’t be more proud of her if she were my own flesh and blood. In spite of all the obstacles, this young lady managed to graduate with good grades.

Anyone could have given up and it would have been understandable. But Dolapo forged on and she came out triumphant in the end.

In return, Nigerians took it upon themselves to spread the word until the money she needed to graduate was raised. This is no small feat, it is no coincidence, it is a miracle!

I don’t remember being this happy in a very long time. I am so happy, I am crying tears of joy.

Dolapo is a part of me now. Her joy is mine and I celebrate her success. I’m eagerly looking forward to her graduation photos.

I am so proud of you Dolapo. Here’s sending light and love your way.
