WATCH: “Mentally deranged” priest sets two bank ATMs ablaze in Imo
A man suspected to be mentally deranged was seen setting some Automated Teller Machines ablaze in Imo state last Friday.
He had broken into the Micro-finance Bank in Aba, armed with a gallon of petrol and matches. He proceeded to set his motorcycle on fire to the shock of onlookers.
The man was identified as, Rev. Chukwunyere Ibezim, a priest of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Ugiri area of the state.
Ibezim was was nabbed by the mob and was only prevented by policemen from being lynched.
Police say a sum of N100,000 and a hammer were recovered from him.
The state commissioner of police, Chris Ezike, said tests conducted on Ibezim showed he was mentally deranged and had been taken to a psychiatric home in Enugu.
