Police in Niger have arrested one Garba Maru over the murder of Umar Mohammed.

Mohammed was hacked to death at Kokani Village, Fulani Camp, New Bussa in Borgu LGA of the state.

The deceased’s younger brother, Hassan Mohammed, reported to the police that Umar was in the market, when one Dan-Muzua and Maru asked him to go back to their camp.

Maru and Dan-Muzua allegedly started a fight with the deceased and he was dealt machete blows.

Maru is quoted as saying to newsmen that he was unforgiving of any wrong done to him.

“I’m a Fulani man; I hardly forgive somebody that offends me. I will always remember and I’m ready to kill the person at any given time. I am such a person, if you wronged me in January and I see you in December, I will retaliate,” he said.

Police spokesperson in the state, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the arrest of the suspect. He said investigation was still ongoing.
