TechCabal, WeChat announce October 3 date for AfricaBeta premiere

One of Africa’s largest tech online publication TechCabal is announcing the inaugural edition of AfricaBeta in partnership with the world’s fastest-growing social communication app WeChat.

The organisers said AfricaBeta conference that will explore the ideas and technologies that are shaping the future of the African continent.

WeChat’s Regional Manager for West Africa Idemudia Dima-Okojie said the issues to be discussed at the conference are in tune with WeChat’s mobile technology drive.

Dima-Okojie expressed “hope that startups will take advantage of the platform to turbocharge their business.”

“And that conversation begins at Africabeta,” Dima-Okojie said.

AfricaBeta will aim to showcase the companies and individuals that are pushing the frontier, influencing how Africans experience a life in which technology has become essential, the organisers said.

This first edition, tagged Chat 3.0, will focus on how chat applications, and messaging are moving beyond communications into the realms of business and commerce.

In addition to robust expositions by experts in the field, one of the highlights of the event will be demonstrations of outstanding value propositions that emerge from the WeChat ideathon.
