Suicidal man dies hours after being rescued from Lagos lagoon

The suicidal man who was rescued after jumping into the lagoon from Third Mainland Bridge on Tuesday has died.

Nurudeen had been rushed to Ebute Ero by officials of the Lagos State Waterways Authority( LASWA) after he leapt over the rails into the water, but doctors were unable to resuscitate him.

He was said to have dropped his I.D card, called his wife and dropped his unlocked phone before he jumped into the lagoon.

The spokesperson of LASWA, Mahmud Hassan, confirmed the incident and also advised people from taking their lives no matter how hard the situation is.

Hassan said, “People should learn to speak out whatever their problem is and they should seek help before it is too late. When there is life, there is hope.”
