Police launch manhunt for landlord’s daughter who murdered tenant

The Lagos State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the daughter of a landlord who murdered her father’s tenant at Odunsi street in Bariga area of Lagos on Wednesday evening.

A fight between the suspect’s mother and the victim took a wrong turn when the suspect who is identified as Damilola Martin got involved and hit the woman with a heavy object. The impact sent the deceased into coma and she never survived it.

It was revealed that the victim, Mojisola Olasehinde has been involved in a series of quarrels with Damilola’s mother, who happens to be the landlord’s wife. When a fight broke out between them, the suspect decided to support her mother by slamming a heavy object on Mojisola. She slumped from the attack and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Confirming the incident, the police spokesperson in the state, CSP Chike Oti disclosed that “Around 11pm on February 13, 2019, one Mr Olakunle reported at the station that one Damilola Martins fought and killed his wife. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased and the landlord’s wife had been having issues for a long time,”

“On that day, the prime suspect and her mother fought the tenant. In the course of the fight, the suspect hit the woman with a hard object. The woman slumped and was rushed to a hospital.”

She was declared dead and the suspect fled from the neighbourhood before police could get to her, but her brother was arrested to ascertain his role in the murder.

CSP Oti added that the corpse of the deceased which had been deposited in a morgue is awaiting autopsy and the police is doing their best to ensure that the suspect is arrested and prosecuted.
