Family mourns death of Nigerian rapper, Adefemi ‘Miekharry’ Brice, shot dead in U.S
A 24-year-old Nigerian rapper, Adefemi ‘Miekharry’ Brice who was found struggling for his life in a car on the street of Columbus, United States, after suffering from a gunshot wound, on Sunday August 16, has died.
According to the Columbus Police, a passer-by found Brice suffering from a gunshot wound in a gold-colored car in the 2700 block of Cleveland Avenue near Melrose Avenue around 10 a.m., and called the police.
At age 17, Brice was one of the 10 finalists of the 2013 edition of Nokia ‘Don’t Break Da Beat Rap’ competition organised in partnership with Trace TV. The competition was won by Samuel Falowo aka Pro’Meth who was then a 300-level Biology student at the University of Abuja.
Neusroom gathered that Brice lived with his family in Columbus before his death on Sunday. He became another victim of rising cases of homicide in the United States. According to Fox, Brice’s murder is the 88th homicide in Columbus in 2020.
Neusroom findings revealed that his elder brother James-Michael Brice and a friend Lentwan Smith, were shot dead on April 29, 2014, in Columbus at age 21 and 20 respectively.
Brice’s heartbroken sister, Sabi Brice, in a Facebook post said the rapper’s death has left her with no reason to live.
“My little brother is gone, I hate life, there’s no reason for me to live,” Sabi wrote. “My heart is so broken right now. Miekharry Brice I literally don’t have nobody no more.”
Sabi also announced that a candle night session would be held for Brice on Wednesday.
She said: “As sad as I’ve been and as much as it hurts my heart to have one. We’re having a candle light for my beloved baby brother Miekharry Brice tomorrow at Barnett park 6:30pm. Just come show your respects for this young respectable man.”
One of Brice’s best friends, Amadou Abdourahmane Ndongo, who also paid tribute to him on Facebook wrote: “My brother you are never forgotten. Rest in paradise king. I love you Miekharry Brice. Your family pain is my own too.”
He added: “I always knew your potential was beyond what anyone could see at the surface and even when they got impressed by your outright talents you still had gifts waiting to unveil. I could never forget someone like you. Rest In Peace Brother.”
Devashia Johnsonm who said Brice was his brother also took to Facebook to mourn the death of the youngster.
She wrote: “I lost my brother today Miekharry Brice! I don’t know what else to do but to preach the gospel and try to live right so that others can follow Christ especially my family! If you (are) a leader and you know getting saved will make others follow you out. Please step in position so we can all stop reliving the same stories! This is how I met God and the first place.. Here we are again Lord! I repent and I will go back and do the first works you told me too. I can’t live without your spirit.”
Nigeria music star Terry Tha Rapman, who featured Miekharry, Fecko tha Emcee, and Osagz in ‘Na Beanz (Remix)’ from his 2010 sophomore album ‘Boys Are Not Smiling’ (BANS), described the late rapper as a great talent in a tweet. ‘He was a great talent. This is so sad’, Rapman wrote.
Rapper Fecko the Emcee also described Miekharry as one of the most talented rappers he has worked with. “Miekharry Brice was one of the most talented rappers I’ve ever worked with. Can’t believe he’s gone. May his soul Rest In Peace.”
According to Sabi Brice, Miekharry was survived by his kids.
The Columbus Police is yet to respond to Neusroom enquiries seeking information on Miekharry’s murder.
