Police hunt 18-year-old maid who made away with boss’ property worth N500,000
An 18-year-old maid has been declared wanted by the police for allegedly stealing her boss’ property in Lagos.
Police say the maid, Queen, stole the property worth of N500,000, while her boss, Omowunmi Odejide, was away for a party on October 19.
“On Friday, October 19, I went out for a birthday party of one of my friends who turned 40. I did not want to go because I was not in a good mood, but Queen encouraged me to; I did not know that she had something up her sleeve,” the boss said.
“I left home around 12.48pm for Agege where the party held. I came back home around 8 pm and met my neighbours and my children in the compound. I asked of my housemaid and one of my neighbours said she went to buy something,” she said.
Odejide said she had packed her goods home after she had troubles with her boutique.
“When I entered the house on the day of the incident, I noticed that one box containing my goods and my children’s clothes were missing,” she said.
She added that she took Queen as a daughter and never suspected she could something of such.
“She looked innocent. I don’t lock the rooms when I go out,” Odejide said.
Lagos police spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, said the police were on a trail of the suspect and adviced employers to get a good record of maids before taking them into their homes.
