No thanks to Nigerian soldiers (allegedly), Segun Enikuemehin’s right eye is gone.

On Sunday afternoon, Segun Enikuemehin, an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reportedly stumbled on Nigerian soldiers assaulting an unarmed man, and decided to intervene.

The soldiers were reportedly enraged to hear “an ordinary” FRSC officer plead for the life of a “bloody” civilian. They allegedly took hold of Enikuemehin and beat him up.

The FRSC officer reportedly took the beating well and still managed to save the civilian from the allegedly brutality.

Enikuemehin said he took the man to hospital and then reported the incident at Adekunle Police Station in Ebute Metta area of Lagos State.

Police officers later followed the FRSC officer to the scene of the allegedly brutality. When the soldiers saw Enikuemehin with armed policemen, they allegedly became angrier.

It was at that point the soldiers allegedly pounced on Enikuemehin again. This time, one of them allegedly plucked out Enikuemehin’s right eye.

Witnesses said the soldiers attempted running away after watching Enikuemehin bloody eye fall from its socket unto the sandy ground. They said members of a crowd which had now gathered stopped the soldiers, and “arrested” the one who allegedly plucked out the FRSC officer’s eye. He was handed over to the police.

Enikuemehin is being treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
