A security guard who allegedly schemed as plan to rob his boss has been arrested in Osun.
Police say the suspect Rasheed Waheed and three of his friends didn’t spare their victim, Victor Akinbile’s life.
Akinbile was set ablaze while the suspects locked him in his car. The businessman had embarked on a trip to Ikirun from Lagos on November 26, but was waylaid by Rasheed and his gang.
Some of the deceased’s friend had noticed a strange transaction of N3 million transfer from his account a day after he embarked on his trip and quickly notified the police. The friends complained that they were yet to hear from the 48-year-old businessman since he travelled.
Police swung into action and traced the account where the money was transferred to one Ahmed Rafiu. Rafiu led the operatives to arrest Rasheed and two others – Owolabi Bashiru 51 and Kayode 27.
“The police team discovered that the gang consisted of four men, and that one of them happened to be a security guard who alerted his friend’s that Akinbile was in town,” police boss in Osun, Fimihan Adeoye, said.
“The gang came to the victim’s abode, broke into the house and took the N25,000 he was having on him and equally forced him to transfer N3 million to the account of one of them.
“They then put him in his car and drove him to a secluded place where they set the car alight, while he was locked in the booth,” he added.
