Security guard says meagre N5,000 salary reason for breaking into victim’s home

A 17-year-old security guard in Minna, Niger State, has been arrested by the police for breaking into a house and carting away properties.

The suspect, Salisu Sunisi, allegedly carried out the operation with a 20-year-old accomplice, Ishiaku Mohammed. They allegedly broke into the house of one Sadiq Muazu.

Sunisi, Northern City News reports, said he earned N5,000 as salary but it wasn’t enough to offset all the debts he had incurred. He then came up with the idea to rob a house in Gado Nasko Street of  Zarumai Quarters, close to his place of work.

The suspect is quoted as saying: “My salary is not enough for me, it will not take me anywhere; I owe a lot of people and my salary cannot sort it out, so I had to look for other means to settle my debts.”

He named two other accomplices – Umar and Usman – as accomplices.
