Fire Breaks Out at Federal Secretariat in Abuja
A fire outbreak on Monday morning affected a section of the federal secretariat complex in Abuja, triggering panic among staff members and visitors in the building.
Eyewitnesses said the fire was first noticed around 8:20 a.m., with thick plumes of black smoke seen rising from part of the structure. Videos circulating on social media showed smoke billowing from the affected area.
The incident occurred in Section C of the complex, which houses offices within the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Following the outbreak, staff members were seen evacuating the building as emergency responders were alerted to the scene.
The media department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that the fire was confined to Section C.
According to the office, emergency officials were already working to bring the situation under control.
“The fire outbreak is limited to Section C of the building and is currently being attended to by emergency officials,” the statement read.
As of the time of reporting, authorities had not disclosed the cause of the fire.
