SAD: Man kills wife over refusal to cook in Rivers
A father of two simply identified as Ibisaki, has turned himself in to the police after he allegedly stabbed his wife to death in Rivers State on Saturday.
Ibisaki said he stabbed Sokari West, 33, over her refusal to cook after going out to celebrate her birthday with friends.
He said his wife chose to celebrate her birthday with her friends instead of cooking his meal.
A community source, Tonye David disclosed that the couple engaged in a fight and the husband broke a bottle and stabbed the wife on the leg, which resulted to serious bleeding.
According to David, all efforts to save West’s life failed, as doctors were not present at the hospitals she was taken to.
David said, “she was later taken to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) in Choba, about an hour drive from the earlier clinics around her area, where she was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.”
The state’s spokesperson, Nnamdi Omoni said the suspect has been arrested and is aiding in further investigation.
“The man is with us now; he has been arrested and helping us in our investigation. He stabbed his wife on her left leg and she later died of bleeding, though he said he did not intend to kill her,” he said.
