Premier League: Tottenham host Liverpool, and other midweek matches you shouldn’t miss on DStv

SuperSport viewers on DStv can look forward to Round 20 action from the 2020-21 Premier League season, with 10 matches scheduled for 26-28 January 2021.

The top match in the Premier League’s midweek round of fixtures comes from London on the evening of Thursday January 28, as Tottenham Hotspur host Liverpool at 9pm on SuperSport Premier League (Channel 203). The teams met just last month at Anfield, with Liverpool claiming a 2-1 win thanks to a late winner from Roberto Firmino.

Managers Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho had a heated but civil disagreement upon shaking hands at the final whistle of that game and you just know that ‘The Special One’ is itching for revenge when the Reds come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Klopp, meanwhile, gave a backhanded compliment to his counterpart when he said: “As a coach, you have to adapt to the quality you have and mix up the ideas you have and that is one of the best skills of Jose Mourinho. At the end of the day, it is all about getting results and that is the best skill of Jose because in the decisive moments he is not bothered about style, he is just bothered about the result and that makes him the most successful manager around and I respect that.”

The midweek round also features an intriguing clash between Everton and Leicester City at Goodison Park on Wednesday January 27 at 9:15pm on SuperSport Variety 3 (Channel 208), with both teams having ambitions of qualifying for European competition next season. The Toffees have shown their potency this season, but the Foxes will be no easy prey on Merseyside.

“The project is very ambitious. We are building the new stadium and improving the quality of the squad,” said Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti. “There are all the ingredients to come back to the top – to fight, to be competitive in England and Europe.”

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s proved its revival is on course at St Mary’s Stadium against Southampton on Tuesday January 26 with a 3-1 win over their host. With Chelsea former manager Frank Lampard out, new manager Thomas Tuchel will have to prove to fans that he is at the Bridge for the wins when his side hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Manchester United will back themselves to claim three points against struggling Sheffield United.
