Power cable vandal electrocuted to death in Abuja
One suspected vandal identified as Isah Yusuf has been electrocuted to death in a satellite town around Karu, Abuja.
Yusuf, a vulcanizer, was allegedly in the process of stealing a power cable and its components near a two-storey building when he was electrocuted early Wednesday.
Residents say they woke up to find Yusuf’s lifeless body hanging on the power line.
The police division in Karu was alerted to the scene and operatives assisted in bringing down the deceased from the cable.
The General Manager of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, Oyebode Fadipe, said Yusuf was not a staff and had no business climbing the power line.
“The victim is not a staff of AED Plc. From preliminary investigations, his name was given as Isah Yusuf and he is from Katsina State. He was described as a vulcaniser,” Fadipe said, adding that no accomplice had been arrested.
Police say investigations are ongoing on the incident.
