Mixed feelings as parents welcome new baby a day after kidnap of two-year-old daughter
It has been a few days of mixed feelings for Umar Suleiman and his wife who lost their two-year-old daughter, Khadija to kidnap just a day before the arrival of a new baby.
Suleiman had narrated the family’s ordeal to NewsroomNG on Sunday, saying Khadija was kidnapped by an unknown woman on Saturday. At the time, Khadija’s mother, according to the Nasarawa native, was heavily pregnant and due for delivery in “3-4 days.”
In a new development, the shock of the incident has forced Suleiman’s wife into premature labour, and she was delivered of her new baby through caesarean section on Sunday.
Khadija’s abductor is still at large, and the traumatised father revealed there is still no lead on their daughter’s whereabouts.
“No, nothing yet on our daughter,” he told NewsroomNG on Monday.
Despite Suleiman saying he had duly reported the case to the police in Kuje, where the incident happened, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Anjuguri Manzah, told PUNCH on Sunday that he was not aware of the case.
“I just saw the report on PUNCH that the PRO said he isn’t aware of the case,” an emotional Suleiman told us.
“But the DPO in the area has called me. He has been calling me since he became aware of the case.”
“Mother and baby are doing fine,” he confirmed.
The search for Khadija continues, and the young family’s celebration of a new arrival fully depends on her discovery.
