Heartbreaking: Unknown woman kidnaps baby girl in Kuje, mother due for delivery in few days
A heartbreaking incident has rocked a young family’s household in Abuja, as a two-year-old baby girl, Khadija was reportedly kidnapped by an unknown woman in Kuje, after she left with a 7-year-old boy to buy Awara.
The father of the missing child, Umar Suleiman, a staff of an airport in Abuja put out a distress call on his Facebook page yesterday, November 19 claiming that the young girl had been snatched by an unknown woman.
More heartbreaking is the fact that Khadija’s mother is expecting another baby in a few days.
NewsroomNG spoke with Umar who narrated the incident.
“Yes, she was actually kidnapped yesterday around 1pm,” the Nassarawa native told NewsroomNG.
“What exactly happened was, I work at the airport in Abuja and my wife (the mother of the child) is heavily pregnant. I left them all at home but my wife later felt sick and had to go to the hospital.
“She took our daughter to a neighbour and went to the hospital where she was told she would be due for delivery in 3-4 days.”
“My daughter later decided to follow Usman, a 7-year-old boy, to buy what we call Awara in Abuja. But Usman came back crying shortly after, and he explained that on their way to buy Awara through a lonely path, a woman approached them and asked for his sister (Khadija)’s name.
“He told her and the woman led them to another lonely path, before suddenly pushing Usman aside and taking Khadija,” Suleiman narrated.
Asked if he has notified the police about the incident, Suleiman said he has contacted the Abuja police.
“I’ve contacted the police. They said we should notify all check points and check back after 24hrs.
“So far, nothing has happened,” he told us.
