Nine-year-old girl dies after falling inside well in Jigawa
The Jigawa State Fire Directorate have retrieved the lifeless body of a nine-year-old girl from a well in the Kasarau Yamma quarters in Dutse.
The girl, identified as Hassana Aliyu, had fallen into the well around 1:30pm on Thursday.
Fire service boss in the state, Alhaji Ahmed Danyaro said on Friday that no one could provide credible information on how the little girl fell inside the well.
“Nobody can ascertain how the deceased fell into the well as we just received a distress call that she has fallen into the well in their home,” Danyaro told NAN.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team which discovered her unconscious. She was later confirmed dead at hospital.”
He said that the deceased’s corpse had since been handed over to her parents for burial.
He also advised parents who have wells in their homes to raise their height and provide covers for them to protect their children and wards.
