NIGERIA: Meningitis death toll hits 745, over 250 recorded in past week
No fewer than 250 people have lost their lives to meningitis epidemic in the past week, FG has confirmed.
FG said on Wednesday that the total death toll across the country since the outbreak of the deadly disease is at 745.
As at last week, the death toll was 489.
Over 8,000 suspected cases of the disease have been reported across the country over the past five months, although most have occurred in five northern states.
FG recently said it had received 500,000 vaccines from WHO and was expecting 800,000 more.
