MMM founder, Sergey Mavrodi dies of heart attack in Moscow
The founder of Mavrodi Mondial Movement, MMM, Sergey Mavrodi has died of heart attack at the age of 62.
Mavrodi, before his death, founded MMM, a Russian company that ran one of the world’s largest Ponzi scheme.
Confirming Mavrodi’s death, a Moscow-based daily newspaper, Moskovskij Komsomolets reported that he died in the Russian capital, Moscow, after he felt weakness and pain in the chest area.
He died while being rushed to a city hospital in the early hours of Monday.
“The emergency team has failed to save his life. He died this morning,” the report said.
Mavrodi’s ponzi scheme had, in 2017, deprived millions of Nigerians of their savings.
The scheme promised to pay participants 30 per cent return on investment every 30 days.
Many Nigerians adamantly went on to participate in MMM, despite various warnings by the Federal Government and its financial regulators.
