The official flag-off of APC’s campaign rally on Tuesday (today) has reportedly ended in violence.
Reports say political thugs, mostly members of the National Union Road Transport Workers (NURTW), invaded the Skypower Ground Ikeja venue of the campaign with guns, daggers and other dangerous weapons.
The hoodlums engaged in a fight that brought the rally to an abrupt end. An unconfirmed number of persons, including journalists, were reported injured in the fight.
NAN reports that members of the party scampered for safety to avoid being hit by stray bullets being fired indiscriminately by the hoodlums.
State governor Akinwunmi Ambode, his deputy Idiat Adebule and governorship candidate Babajide Sanwoolu were reportedly whisked out of the venue.
The rally was meant to indicate the official kick-off of Sanwo-Olu’s campaign.
