How Bolt (Taxify) is responding to COVID-19

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect daily life and the way people do business and socialize, more organization in Nigeria are standing to be counted by coming up with laudable initiatives that would help citizens stay safe and avoid being infected.

Across the world, the virus is driving millions of people indoors as the need for social distancing becomes essential to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Countries like China (the epicenter of the virus), Italy (second worst hit country), Spain, France and several others have announced total lockdown, but in Nigeria with 22 cases at Saturday, citizens are still moving around and that is why ride-hailing service Bolt formerly Taxify is advising its riders on how to move around the city in its rides and still protect themselves from getting infected.

Bolt sent out an email to its customers on Friday advising them to adopt cashless payment option on its App when using its ride to limit amount of contact.

“At Bolt, nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of our users. This is even more relevant now, in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. To limit the amount of contact needed, we urge you to switch to a cashless payment option.”

Bolt said card payments are safer than cash payments because credit cards are contactless, meaning it decreases the risk of germs being transmitted, unlike cash which harbours germs after travelling across several cities.
