Ekiti: Man allegedly severs pregnant woman’s hand with cutlass following dispute
A fight between two men in an Ekiti neighbourhood resulted in the loss of hand for a pregnant woman, NAN reports.
The woman, identified as Aisha Adam, saw her hand chopped off as her husband engaged a neighbour in a fight.
Both men had brandished cutlasses when a dispute arose.
Aisha’s hand was totally severed from the wrist as she attempted to prevent the neighbour from hacking her husband to death.
Her husband, Mr Mohammed Adam, narrated the incident. He told NAN, “My wife, the victim, reported to me that our neighbour had fought with her while I was away.
“I challenged him and in the process, both of us started fighting. My neighbour rushed inside his room, brought out a cutlass and I also brought out a cutlass in defence.
“When the man came out, my wife tried to intervene and he slashed her with the cutlass. Her wrist immediately fell-off her hand,” Mohammed added.
The mother of four is said to be recuperating at a hospital in the state. Her severed hand had been deposited at the mortuary.
Police confirmed the suspect had been arrested and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at the State Police Command Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti.
