Court prosecutes hot-tempered woman for pouring boiling water on pregnant neighbour
A hot-tempered 24-year-old woman, Semiat Azeez has been arraigned at the Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly pouring boiling water at her pregnant neighbour in the Alapupu area of Okinni, Osun state.
The case which was brought against the accused by the police prosecutor, Inspector Abiodun Fagboyinbo was seeking reprimand against the young woman who committed the offence on November 16, 2018 in the same neighbourhood.
It was reported that after Semiat had a slight misunderstanding with Rukayat Lukuman, she boiled hot water and mixed it with poisonous substances that she used in attacking the victim.
The magistrate presiding over the case, Modupe Awodele was apprehensive of Semiat for going to such length in causing bodily harm to express her anger.
While giving her deposition on the issue, the victim told the court that she has forgiven Semiat and no longer wish to press further charges against her.
Despite her plea for pardon on behalf of her assailant, the magistrate said that she will only consider that option if the accused provides her mother.
When Semiat’s mother was not available, the magistrate held back from discharging her and adjourned the case to December 21, 2018.
