Domestic Violence: Businessman batters wife for inviting pastor into matrimonial home

One Anggrey Obaje has allegedly assaulted his wife after she could not explain what a pastor was doing in their matrimonial home at night.

Obaje, on March 30, arrived his residence at Shauri Moyo area of Nairobi, Kenya, only to find a pastor with his wife, Teresa Atieno.

Atieno, according to the court, had received the pastor for prayers while her husband was away from home. She was said to have served the pastor tea and buttered bread.

“Obaje asked who the visitor was and what he was doing in their house at such an ungodly hour, the pastor replied that he had brought the good news of salvation and would not mind to also pray for the head of the family,” the charge added.

After seeing the pastor off, Atieno returned to the house but Obaje locked the door from inside, leaving her to continuously knock as she begged him to open the door for the sake of their daughter.

The 35-year-old businessman allegedly grabbed his wife and unleashed series of slaps on her face.
