Court sentences two men to death by hanging for robbery in Ogun
Two men identified as a 32-year old Adeniyi Dada and a 39-year old Agbaraojo Abolore have been sentenced to death by hanging on Thursday by an Abeokuta High Court.
Dada and Abolore had robbed one Pastor Olajide Eliphew at gunpoint on November 24, 2012 at his residence at Olajide Eliphew street, Papa Ibafo in Ogun.
They carted away his Nissan Pathfinder jeep, valued for N1.7m, and two laptops that are valued for N180,000.
The convicts were charged with conspiracy and armed robbery.
The court heard that the offences breached Section 6(b) and were punishable under Section1(2)( a) of the Robbery and Firearms (special provisions) Act, Cap Roll Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
“Having found that the accused persons are guilty as charged on both counts, you shall be hung by the neck until you are dead, may the Lord have mercy on you,” Justice Olatokunbo Majekodumi said during his judgment.
