BREAKING: 3 FUNAAB students killed, police station burnt as protest turns violent

Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) boils as we speak.

Armed robbers allegedly attacked students living off the school campus on Wednesday. Some students were reportedly stabbed during the attack. Two of them reportedly bled to death.

“One of the robbers was apprehended,” a source told NewsroomNG on Thursday morning.

“The students were going to beat him up and probably kill him but the police intervened and stopped the students from executing jungle justice,” he said.

FUNAAB students who live off campus have been attacked in the past. They say the attacks were usually carried out by people living in villages around the school.

The police usually patrol those areas to protect students living off campus. Most of the students are “big boys” who cannot bear the “sorry state” in school hostels.

“The students were angry the police didn’t protect them this time. The police only showed up to save the armed robbery suspect who may now be responsible for the alleged death of two students.

“That angered the students and they protested against the police,” he said.

A policeman, Thursday, reportedly shot one of the protesting students. The student has reportedly died. A source also said a policeman was killed.

The police are yet to respond to our queries on the incidents.

FUNAAB has now been shut so the violent protest won’t spread to the school campus. Students living off campus, villagers and police officers are all locked in the fight, a source told us.

The students have also burnt down a police station, the source said.

This is a developing story. We’ll bring you more details later..
