80-year-old suspected kidnapper arrested for rubbing money on children’s head
An 80-year-old man has been arrested in Lagos for allegedly attempting to kidnap three children on Tuesday.
The man, identified only as Muftau, was caught around Oluwole market, near Waterside, in the Apapa area of the state.
He allegedly attempted to lure his victims by touching their foreheads with money brought from a white envelope.
“When he was asked why he was touching the children, he quickly joined a canoe going to Olodi Apapa before he was dragged down,” a witness is quoted as saying.
One of the children also confirmed that the elderly man touched their foreheads after giving him directions.
Muftau denied any of the allegations.
The police took him away after rescuing him from an angry mob who had gathered to mete out jungle justice on him.
